How much does it cost to add a name to a headstone?

HeadstoneHub’s cemetery lettering price is $300 plus $15 per letter. The final quote depends on the confirmed inscription and any additional work, such as extending a panel to create room. This is our pricing, not an average for every monument company.

What does that formula mean for your inscription?

For a confirmed billable count of 10 letters, the calculation is $300 + (10 × $15) = $450. For 20 letters, it is $600. For 30 letters, it is $750. These examples assume lettering only, without a panel extension or separately quoted work.

Send the complete text rather than estimating a name alone. Dates, initials, punctuation, and other requested marks should appear in your request so we can confirm exactly what will be carved and how it will be charged. Do not treat a rough count as a final order total.

What does the $300 cover?

It covers the attention required for your particular memorial: travel, assessing the existing inscription, matching the lettering, and preparing the work. A short addition still requires a visit and preparation.

What if there is not enough room?

A photograph helps us assess the blank space. If a panel extension is needed, it carries an additional cost. We will discuss that work before you approve it. Do not assume an existing family stone has enough space merely because it was intended for more than one person.

What should you send for a written quote?

• A clear picture of the whole headstone, including its base.
• A close-up of the existing letters and the area for the new text.
• The exact inscription, including dates and punctuation.
• The cemetery name, town, and section or lot number if known.
